Butterfly milkweed (Asclepias tuberosa) is a showy, drought-tolerant perennial known for its vibrant orange-to-yellow, flat-topped flower clusters that bloom in summer, attracting pollinators like Monarch butterflies, and its narrow, lance-shaped leaves, distinctive for lacking the milky sap of other milkweeds, growing 1-3 feet tall on hairy stems with deep roots.
